Heebee Post #503 - A Fluxus Affair - 4th Dimension Territories - Heebee Jeebeeland
Happy New Year! Just wanted to remind everybody not to forget to have some fun! Cheers to you all in 2011 - T. T.
Heebee Post #502 - Frips - Gent - Belgium
Hello dear Frips and welcome back to the Affair. This luscious 'block' of Artistamps, hand printed on a lovely fuchsia background, is a fine example of the craft. They are gorgeous and unique!
I really have got to show off my growing collection of "Frips Flux Post" artistamps. These stamps have an 'otherworld' feel to them as well as being beautiful. The unfolded card seen in the top left corner contained a warm note inside - thank you Frips! The top right is one of many forms of 'Fluxus Bucks' (front and back) the circle around as if flotsam and jetsam in the Mail Art tide - of which this is a nice one. And Frips's envelopes are always such a gas! Love her work! Frips Mail Art.
Heebee Post #501 - Laurence Roberts - Forest Gate, London - U.K.
It's great to find Laurence having fun on the Affair. I live in the Northwest part of the United States and it is known for weather that looks just like this when you are driving down the road. Kinda scary sometimes.
Thank you very much Laurence for your 'fog-vision' postcard and your kind words. Happy New year to you!

Heebee Post #500 - Nicol Kostic - Toledo, Ohio - USA
The Affair welcomes back Nicol and her two terrific submissions. The visage of the woman seen above haunted me for awhile - that face sure looked familiar. After scratching my head and some hemmin' and hawin', I figured it out. The Affair is proud to announce that it is none other than everybody's cousin, Minnie Pearl! Great card and of course, Minnie is absolutely adored around here!
La bella Luna! Nicol has a wonderful sense of what the Affair is all about as she shows off one of the essences of romance - the Moon. Since ancient times, lovers have opined about that glorious entity in the starry sky.
It is wonderful to have Nicol back here, on the Affair. Thank you for this double shot of mail art love and, of course, allowing me to remember good ol' Minnie Pearl! Two great cards!

Heebee Post #499 - Arnoldia - Pondidia International (Lynn Palmiter, Jr. and Elizabeth Zois - Her Grace, The Dak of Droll) - Troy, New York - USA
Nice to see the dynamic duo of Lynn Jr. and the Dak having fun, here, on the Affair. Together they produced this lovely Winter Solstice "Pepper Mirth" postcard. The Winter Solstice marks the exact moment when the days stop becoming shorter and begin to get longer again. These peppers sure seem to enjoy that fact!
The Affair really gets a kick out of these two inseparable Mail Artists. Beautiful Artistamps adorn the reverse side as well as the "Up, Down, Here and There" rubber stamp that appears on their combined efforts - love that stamping. The Solstice is a great thing to celebrate - especially when everybody is getting a bit tired of those long. long nights. This year it occurred on the 21st of Dec. at 11:58 PM (in the Northern hemisphere) and is the reversal of the lengthening of nights (and so, is the shortest day of the year). Thank you very much you two. Will be seeing you in the post my friends.

Heebee Post #498 - Katerina Nikoltsou - Thessaloniki - Greece
Katerina 'Saint Nik' reappears on the Affair wishing us a 'merry merry' with this Bell ringing Christmas holiday card. I must mention that when I see bells, I am always reminded of one of my favorite songs. And since this is "A Fluxus Affair", I would be remiss not to add that beautiful and touching song right here: "The Bells" for anybody that has ever been in love. "Bella Affair"!
Katerina is also part of the "Mail Art 365" project and this would be her #18 of 365 - a long way left to go. Keep up the good work and Happy Christmas and a great New Year to you my friend.
Thank you very much Katerina. You are a good Mail Art friend and I'm glad to have this lovely card on Christmas Eve. Cheers old friend.

Heebee Post #497 - Beli Zlaticanin - Podgorica - Montenegro
The Affair is delighted to announce the arrival of Beli and this intriguing looking submission. What a great feel this piece has to it. Would this be the patriarch of Beli's family? An uncle or, perhaps, father? A great drawn portrait of the man atop an accounting journal page with the inscription "Gospodin (Mr.) Savo Zlaticanin". A monarch of his realm. Love it!
This is sure a curious site. I had to stare a while before realizing it is a very well used basketball hoop. Even after knowing, it still looks surreal against the beautiful azure sky. A super pic!
I am amazed to see that this envelope was postmarked November 8th - It took over a month and a 1/2 to arrive here at the Affair. After seeing the address though, lucky it got here at all. Please Beli, well you know. Thank you very much and we shall see you in the mail. I guess that will be next year already!

Heebee Post #496 - Walter Cianciusi - Rome - Italy
The Affair warmly welcomes quasi-Fluxist Walter Cianciusi who is currently working at the mysteriously prestigious garden of avant garde sounds - Centro Richerche Musicali in Rome.
Walter's Fluxus forte is his sonic exploration - here you can see a good example of his Fluxus music: Computer Music (Musica).I love the wonderful Fluxus Affair theme of the above card. These cards are quite small (2" length), but have a special brand of Fluxus elegance. These little guys are nearly minimalistic, but somehow seem like anecdotes.
I wonder if this really was a sound sculpture. Would be interesting (if not unsettling).
We are very happy to have Walter here, on the Affair. This fellow's web-site is fascinating. I enjoyed wondering what the heck this guy is up to and so will you. Find him here: Walter Cianiusi Fluxus Works. Great stuff my friend, thank you very much.
Heebee Post #495 - Ria Cabral - Minot, North Dakota - USA
Ria returns to the Affair with this rather sordid looking rough romance theme. Nicely drawn, it is part of a "Mail Art 365" project, where the artists involved in the project must send out a piece of Mail Art every day.
Ria has been living in different parts of the USA and has finally settled in Minot. Hope your new home is a happy one. Thank you very much and keep your chin up - there is only 365 of those rascals to do! Ria's 365. Thank you very much Ria.

Heebee Post #494 - Boo Carteledge - Louisville, Kentucky - USA
Boo arrives onto the Affair with this very festive looking holiday card. This too is a Mail Art 365 (Boo's). Sure wish I could unwrap it, but it is just a postcard.
Nice to find Boo on the Affair. She is charming and has a fun web site "It's only a Book". I'll be sending something to you very soon my friend. Thank you very much.

Heebee Post #493 - Ruud Janssen (General-President IUOMA) - Breda - Netherlands
The Affair is absolutely thrilled to receive this magnificent 'Certifcate of Membership' from the International Union of Mail Artists (IUOMA) creator Ruud Janssen. Interested in meeting a wonderful and friendly group of creative human beings with like-minded ideas about sending art through the mail? You'll be happy you did: IUOMA.org. This is so cool - thanks Ruud!
Along with the certificate, was this assortment of great IUOMA goodies I shall be applying to some future Mail Art and other things. And a splendid note to make my day! I'm feeling the good vibes all right!
Ruud's visit here is an absolute gas! And all this fun stuff came in this handsome "Flux-op" envelope. Ruud has been known to invent new Fluxus words and terms. "Flux-op" is a good example. Mind if I borrow that word/term a time or two for my own fiendish Fluxus purposes? Thanks again my friend - and see you in the mail!

Heebee Post #492 - Jennifer Kosharek - St. Petersburg, Florida - USA
Jen appears on the Affair in all her Mail Art splendor with Ray Johnson holding up his end of the deal in Fluxus romance. Is this odd Dada-ish love ritual an official part of the Fluxus fun to be had at the "Chorusbeedance School"? A large envelope decorated brilliantly!
The beautiful envelope contained a little booklet that was the documentation for the "Ur Toy Story" mail art call Jennifer had that culminated in a marvelous show and wildly amusing Fluxus Performance at the Artpool Gallery last September. It was determined to be a smashing success and fun was had by all that witnessed the Fluxus hijinks that ensued!
The large international cast of characters that participated in the "Ur Toy Story".
Thank you very much for the great documentation Jen. The little booklet consists of 28 pages! Includes bios of the Fluxists that were part of the show and is an engaging read. Very well done! Jen has a new project in the works: "Utopia/Dystopia". Check it out and be in her next show!

Heebee Post #491 - EJVA-NSVA - Sonjaing, Shanghai- China
The Affair has never had a submission from China - this is the first of what I hope to be an interesting exchange with EJVA. This charming Hippo is expressing his delight as he trolls for love in the tumultuous river of desire.
Nice to have you here EJVA. I like the 'Field Study Romance' aspect of your card. You don't have to look too far to find the mojo of the Affair going on everywhere.
EJVA has mentioned in a note, that she is desiring Mail Art from other countries. She writes:
EJVA has mentioned in a note, that she is desiring Mail Art from other countries. She writes:
"So I would say, for China, send something radical for fun or experiment, but anything you really want to be sure of, send in a plain envelope. Also, most of the homes are in high-rise apartments, the mailbox slats are small, so I would say it is best to send something less than 5 inches wide, 3 inches tall - to make sure it gets stuffed in the box."
"Do not worry about what you send - unless it is something absurdly anti-Chinese government, there is not a problem as far as I know. There is even some prominent Chinese art which deals with gov't contemporary viewpoints in the gallery - so I don't think mailart will be a problem for anyone. Any trouble, I think, will be the idea of what the Post Office will accept as 'mail'"!
**So, the cryptic label above is a 'copy, print and paste' address for anyone who would like to send her something interesting.
We are thrilled to have EJVA on the Affair. Thank you so much for the mail art and we shall be finding our way to you in the mail soon. The mail carriers in Shanghai will be amused by the colorful "Fluxus Affair" postcard I will be sending. See you soon.

Heebee Post #490 - Andrea Jay (Hilarious Assistance Principle) - Staten Island, New York - USA
Andrea Jay returns to the Affair just in time to serve up this lovely and humorous 'Christmas Valentine's' postcard "From the bottom of my heart".
We really get a kick out of 'The hilarious vice principle's' mail art funnybone. Thank you very much Andrea. Merry Christmas to you my friend! Great card!

Heebee Post #489 - Janet Heritage - Wheatridge, Colorado - USA
It's always a festive occasion when Janet is here. Her works are visual feasts that keep the eye moving. This one reminds me of the Beatles "And your bird can sing" by John Lennon. What a beauty this museum like postcard is!
The reproduction here really does not do this piece justice. The letters and mixed media here are glittering and golden and really just burst out visually when seen in person. Absolutely gorgeous - thank you very much Janet. Something your way soon!

Heebee Post #488 - Kiera Pannell - Montreal, Quebec - Canada
Kiera is back on the Affair with this thoughtful study. Kiera's golden pen has created this fellow that seems to be having a good old fashioned 'think'. Her renderings are always entertaining - trying to figure out if the subject is well known or not. I think I might know who this individual is and I wonder what is on his mind.
Kiera's Mail Art call "Culture and Language" sounded enticing enough for the Affair to contribute. Still plenty of time for you too folks!
Kiera is one Mail Artist that is easy to like and we are so glad to have her here on the Affair. I have received mail art from her from a few different countries, but she seems to have settled down in Montreal. I hope your home is a happy one my friend! You can visit Kiera's "This is Art", her lively mail art site. Thank you very much!

Heebee Post #487 - Bifidus Jones - St. Paul, Minnesota - USA
This charming fellow seems to have captured somebody's heart in this Bifidus Fluxus Affair. I love the linoleum floor seen here. This really is a grand card and has a great Fluxus feel to it.
We are very happy to find Bifidus back on the Affair. The reverse side is very well done as well. Bifidus is able to give off a sense of 'eternal correspondence' with this interesting style. Thank you Bifidus, I am enjoying your card very much.

Heebee Post #486 - Marni Zainodin - Cameron Highlands, Pahang Darul Makmur - Malaysia
Marni makes her way back to the Affair with this intense realization: "This changes everything between us". Is she remembering her own affair or did she discover an indiscretion being made? One thing is for sure - either way, "This changes everything" is for sure. I like the ambiguity.
Nice to see you here again Marni and thank you for this fab card. Check Marni's Mailart for more of her handiwork. See you soon in the mail my friend.

Heebee Post #485 - Angela Behrendt - Hannover - Germany
Angela is back with this rather hilarious and classic Fluxus Affair postcard. A Ray Johnson Bunnyhead and the famous Playboy Bunnyhead. Angela has a terrific sense of humor as she embroiders these wonderful cards. This is a great piece and I just love it!! Angela mentions below that the two bunnies had only a short-lived affair. Better to have Fluxus Affaired and lost - than to never have Fluxus Affaired at all!
Furthermore, check out that embroidered "Ray's Christmas Bunny hat" artistamp up in the right corner. This card is really putting a smile on my face. Thank you Angela, very nice to see you here again with such a great contribution to the Affair!
