Always glad to find the superb postcard crafter Stan Askew having fun at the Affair. He has manufactured a delicate perceived balance of good and bad, the high and the lowly (yin and yang) with this new creation (...and so it goes).
The reverse side of this wonderful card is handsome and cryptic - Stan is very good at this and it is indicative of his interestingly clever style - always very good, almost scientific!
For some odd reason, I have always liked vintage snapshots of the proverbial Nuclear Family. Stan added these pics and don't they look marvelous posing for the Affair? Do you feel the family unit was more cohesive 40 to 60 years ago? The Affair thinks about things like that.
And this antique cloth postcard from the Smokey Mountains for my collection. Nice.

Cheryl Penn drops into the Affair with this magnificent 4 card set of "The Women Who Hold Up the World" and believe it when she adds: "I am one".
These are like jumbo ATC's - beautifully crafted, each encased in plastic and sewn up. What a great look!
A while ago, I borrowed a phrase from Keith Buchholz - "Concept Wrangler". Cheryl is also able to wear that badge and has the uncanny ability to wrangle out concepts at a prodigious rate - at no loss of quality!
These are just stunning, a bit haunting and I cannot get enough of them. The entrancing thought process is truthful and rather revealing. Cheryl Penn is fearless! These are, all 4, fabulous!
What a delight to have these 'Jumbo' ATC's. They really make you take a leap when viewing them. Super job Cheryl - I am enchanted! It sure is fun trading art with her - she's a real 'Dynamo'! "Oui a peur d'une Femme"? ("So afraid of a woman?"). Talented veteran Mail Artist Susanna Lakner returns to the Affair with this oddly sultry and captivating postcard posing the question that lurks in the darkness of male unconscious thought.
This card really took a beating in the post on the way here. The actual card that arrived here is on the left - you can see that it is surface scraped rather badly - compare to a perfect digital copy I took from Planet Susannia. Quite a difference. I just had to show a clean version because I love this moody beauty ( "....and she's got a look, 'cause she's in a state!"). Fantastic work!
I am always quite pleased to discover something from Planet Susannia in the post box. Thank you very much. There are some artists that seem to always be having fun - Susanna is definitely one of them!

Nice to see Beli back and working his mojo at the Affair. I cannot help but to wonder if this is his home, adorned and festooned with wonderful and lovely framed Art! I am always intrigued and often puzzled by what the frame of mind might be in the creation of mail art. The enigmatic Beli creates these little mysteries - what does he mean and what is he all about? The Affair thinks about stuff like that!
In any event, it is certainly a festive occasion when Beli is here. Love this quirky envelope too, but if I didn't know Beli, I'm not certain I would know exactly where this came from. Anyway, I do know where it came from and something is on the way back to Montenegro soon. Thank you very much!

Prosthet makes her debut on the Affair with this important public service announcement. I just love momentous information that can benefit all of mankind! Super Fluxus work!
And when combined with the directive seen above - Prosthet does her best to save humanity from it's current de-evolve status!
Prosthet also has a great mail call "The Dearly Departed - Memorial Mail Art". The Affair is currently working on something for that rather intimate call. I like her sites - elegant and spooky. The glorious return of Marni to the Affair is wonderful achievement consisting of two lovely 'Fishy' postcards that fit together nicely. These two heavy duty cards are fantastic!
A closer look at the 'rear view' of the beautiful Picean creature. I tried to decipher the writing around the tail, but I could not quite get it. The alluring message near the bottom is rather cryptic in an enthusiasm of fun.
The Affair adores these two handsome beauties and I'll bet "O-Fish-L" Mail Artist Adamandia likes them as well. (She runs the "A Fishy Requisite"). Thank you very much Marni - love your work. Marni in januari art.

Very nice to find Stephanie at the Affair with her 'Kettle of Fortunes' - heavy Mylar sheets sewn together holding a myriad of 'fortune' puzzle pieces. As the eye travels across this piece, it picks up 'hints' of your fortune's forecast. Assemble the evidence and voila! I like the 'Eve-ish' image in the background - like taking part in forbidden fortune telling!
I really like the feel of the thick, pliable and plastic sheets. Gives it a sense of importance somehow. Thank you very much Stephanie for this official looking, future prognosticating and elegant postcard. Be seeing you in the mail very soon.

C.Z. returns to the Affair to relay this interesting 'Add & Pass'. I don't usually display Add & Passes, but after I added the blue and the red, it made the girls together look like a big radioactive spider with all those skinny legs!
The colorful geological envelope these items arrived in (below) was nearly bursting with an assortment of various paper delights. Many more not shown.
C.Z. is now on the east coast in Massachusetts. He retired and moved not too long ago from California and the Affair wishes him well in his new surroundings. Good for you, my old friend. Will be seeing you in the mail very soon and thank you very much. Love that envelope.

Like a Fluxus Affair diplomatic pouch, this large, beautifully decorated envelope arrived from Kiki. Adorned in carved block prints, it has a kind of 'important ' feel to it. It looks great!
So nice to have Ms. Desvaux back on the Affair. 3 sets of artistamps were the contents of that glorious envelope - There was also a thoughtful and pleasant note between friends as well. Thank you very much Kiki. I sent something to you today by coincidence. Happy Mail my friend. Kiki Mail Art.

This stunning vision is the result of Em's new envelope printing technique as she returns to the Affair in fine form. It is of the sort that the eyeballs want to roam over slowly while enjoying the ride. Great job!
This beautiful set of ATC's were wrapped up the shimmering golden paper you see behind the cards. Emily has a great sense of wonder and humor and is very clever and likable.
Nice to have you back on the Affair old girl. I like you, love to experiment with color printing. It is addictive and expensive (just warning) and a great deal of fun. Katerina turns on the 'Love Light' at the Affair with this lovely "Affair to Remember" V-Day postcard. This is also actually part of 'Mail Art 365' - with a slight difference. This is for her #86 - which wasn't scheduled until Feb.24 - ten days from now! So, they are done (lovingly) in advance, but is that fair? Can you do 4 or 5 days of mail art 365 then rest for 4 or 5 days? I would say no way, but Katerina is my good friend, so what the heck!

Katerina is one of the very nicest folks you will meet in the world of Mail Art - now I feel as if I have slighted her. Didn't mean it like that, but I am curious to know if I am correct. Could someone leave a remark voicing their opinion on this matter? Anybody? Having said all that, let me add this: Thank you very much my dear Katerina - love the romantic card on V-Day!
