Heebee Post #425 - Cheryl Penn - Durban, Kwazulu Natal - South Africa

Cheryl checks into the Affair with this lip smackin' twin trolloped ensemble that appears, by the appearance of the signatures, to be a group effort? An alluring Fluxus Affair submission!
This is a spectacular unfolding collaged card, nicely constructed, nebulously ambiguous and asking some tough Fluxus questions. I am loving this card
Cheryl's soulful and sensuous answer to tough Fluxus questions. One thing is certain, Fluxus life is uncertain!
Welcome to the Affair Cheryl - or as she puts it "Fluxus Isle". Sweet. Your work is fun and conundrumish. I really am enjoying those eye-poppingly cool South African postage stamps as well. You can check out more of this busy artist's work here. Cheryl Penn's Artistbooks. Thank you very much my friend - see you in the mail very soon.

Heebee Post #424 - Torma Cauli - Budapest - Hungary

It's great to see Cauli on the Affair. A lovely supreme Dada world where lovers dash in the surf beneath a dark cliff. A seaside Fluxus Affair? Love that imagery!
Cauli, if I am not mistaken, was given that nickname by none other than veteran Belgian Mail Artist 'Frips'. It is always an immense delight to have him here, on the Affair. Thank you Cauli! He has his Mail Art magic going on here: Torma Cauli Mail Art.

Heebee Post #423 - Deborah Davidson (Dosankodebbie) - Toyohira-ku, Sapporo - Japan

Cow-Bees and Indians? No, just Cow-Bees heavy buzzing 'round a Peony. Dosankodebbie's beautiful Etegami laminated card is a humorous observation of nature. She is really perfecting her art and I am a huge fan of her work. These Etegami 'observations' are relevant to daily life and austere and invariably possess a happy and kind spirit that displays her love for the 'little things'. They are great. What is a Peony? A flowering plant native to Asia.
I am really delighted to have Dosankodebbie on the Affair. Always pleasant with a witty perception of our surroundings - she is a favorite here. Thank you very much Deb. Want more Etegami? It's right here: Dosankodebbie's Etegami Notebook and Mail Art Gallery.

Heebee Post #422 - Ross Priddle (Bentspoon) - Calgary, Alberta - Canada

Ross's new visit to the Affair includes this poignant little booklet "Mail Art's Eternal Network" (2001). There are many submissions from various artists, but the main deal here is Vittorre Baroni's brilliant take on what makes Mail Art tick. A fascinating effort, edited and produced by none other than the Sticker Dude (Joel Cohen). What you see above is the cover. I have always loved the term "The Eternal Network" for Active Mail Artists.
This is the reverse cover and includes a synopsis of what occurs within. This fine publication may be nearly 10 years old, but it remains a very smart treatise on the disposition of the genre. Well done fellas! An 'Add & pass' with just Ross and myself so far. This one will be back in the mail very soon.- on to the next person. This is the cover for "GAR" #60 - a little zine-ish publication by Bentspoon (Ross). This one includes Litsa Spathi, Cascadia Artpost (cover) and Ross himself.
You can see Ross's rubber stamped image here saying "Calgary DX Club". He was intrigued by my collection of "DX" and "QSL" rubber stamps from all over the world - I have many - (see Post #391). These handsome rubber stamps are from the 50's 60's and 70's and were used by Ham radio operators around the globe. Art Tower was visiting from Germany last year when he and myself (the two Towers) found these in the attic of an obscure antique store. Thank you very much Ross - that Eternal Network booklet is very cool - very glad to have it. I suppose a salute to Barorni and the Sticker Dude is in order as well. You can read all about Ross's Mail Art and Fluxus antics here: Bentspoon.

Heebee Post #421 - Marcia Cirillo - McKinney, Texas - USA

I had the extreme pleasure of pulling this gorgeous 'Fluxus Affair' out of the mail box today. It really is a beauty. I just love her 'thinking it over' while the intensity is off the chart. Marcia has it going on with this submission!
And get a load of this "Fluxus Navigator"! It puts out "Solid Flux"! Unbelievable! I like Marcia's superb sense of humor here.
Inside this entertaining envelope package was several other odd paper artifacts - such as this interesting little card.
The envelope is quite a sensation by itself. I am sure happy to have Marcia on the Affair. And note the exquisite vintage postage seen here. I remember when that United Nations stamp came out in 1965 - loved it then too (I was a collector). She also included a very nice note with her art. I love very nice notes. Thank you very much Marcia. See you in the mail soon.

Heebee Post #420 - Valentine Mark Herman - Sigean - France

The Queen's smirky visage greeted me this morning as I collected the post. Quite lovely and regal! Val's postage creations make superb Mail Art and this one is royally fabulous!
Very good to have Val and his date show up for the Affair. I love the idea of this postal creation. By some odd luck, I have an interesting collection of Her Majesty in Coronation souvenir publications. I must send you something from that stack. Thank you very much Val. Great stuff! Find out more about this interesting Artist right here: Val Herman Art.

Heebee Post #419 - Richard Yates (Supreme Bunny Warlord) - Longview, Washington - USA

The SBW is back with this puzzling evidence. "Failed again" is scrawled onto this CD as well as a lipstick smooch. I think we are talking Fluxus Affair Dada here folks! Sweet. I wanted to play the disc, but I discovered it to be thickly taped over on the playing side! It seems, somehow, very appropriate.
I really get a kick out of Richard's antics and being a 'neighbor' just south of here, I just may pay him a visit one day. He seems like a fun person to meet. You can check out his unusual brand of fun here: Bunny Head Squad. Thank you very much my friend.

Heebee Post #418 - Julian Grant - Chicago, Illinois - USA

Julian visits the Affair with this cryptic warning card. It reads "Welcome to my Mail Art circle. I will send you Mail Art when you least expect it". I'm suddenly feeling rather like an H.P. Lovecraft character being introduced to the mysterious Cthuthlu with this promise.
Sure is cool to have veteran film maker and producer and now Mail Artist Julian Grant appear here. He is an interesting fellow indeed as you can find out for yourself here: Julian Grant Portfolio. Thank you very much my friend - I will look forward to future exchanges!

Heebee Post #417 - Wilma Duguay - Port Daniels, Quebec - Canada

Wilma writes that she "has found her way back to Heebee Jeebeeland with the aid of an old barn lamp". Not to mention a trusty sailboat - navigation to the Island can be tricky. And now Wilma joins the Affair and we are glad to have her. That lantern card is really nice and austere.
It has been a while since we have seen Wilma here. She makes up for her long absence by including a warm written note. You are a nice friend to have my dear and I mailed you something yesterday. Wilma had a Sea Exhibition Mail Art display recently. She lives on the remote Canadian shoreline of Quebec and loves the Sea - it is obvious in her Exhibit. Happy mail!

Heebee Post #416 Ruud Janssen / Tam Publications - Breda - Netherlands

Ruud checks into the Affair with this grand 'Flux" envelope. Included in the assortment inside was a very friendly note. As I have said before, I will no longer be publishing the bits of correspondence I receive, unless it is incorporated into the Mail Art itself (and except Richard Canard of course - it is his Art). - I regard them as quite personal and strictly between myself and the sender/receiver (a 'Fluxus Affair'). I do encourage including letter writing in with the Mail Art and think there is certainly not enough of that old fashioned friendliness going on these days. Thank you for the pleasant and considerate note my friend - I appreciate it very much.
A page of new IUOMA logo Artistamps conceived by veteran Mail Artist Roland Halbritter of Germany. Nice.
The Tam Archives are always seeking out rubber stampings for their immense collection. In this case, 'Fluxus' rubber stampings. Ruud looms largely in the Fluxus/Mail Art world - He invented and put together IUOMA and has flown many other missions in the name of the genre. For that, we salute you Ruud! Thank you very much my honorable friend. See you in the post soon! Ruud Janssen.

Heebee Post # 415 - Keith Buchholz (FLUXUS/ST. LOUIS) - St. Louis, Missouri - USA

"When FLUXUS takes over, all these capitalistic evils will be replaced by peace and plenty"! And thus, the modern family will once again become the heart of the Earth.
I read somewhere that Keith was referred to as a 'concept wrangler'. I love that term and, from time to time, have entertained the idea of that title for myself as well. Well, Keith doesn't disappoint with this classic Fluxus Affair postcard. Thank you very much Keith, I am enjoying it greatly! Find out a bit more about what Fluxus/St. Louis is about. Mail soon.

Heebee Post #414 - Valentine Mark Herman - Sigean - France

Val makes a bold statement here and I like the 'squaring off' of the said parties in the blue block. Nice. This is a lovely decorated envelope that came with the warning "Don't open it". Val's envelope creations are a gas!
I love incorporating old postage into Mail Art and Val is quite good at it. A beautiful vintage Eiffel Tower stamp is featured here in this tower ensemble. Thank you very much Val and welcome to the Affair. To find out more about this interesting artist, check here: Val Herman Art.

Heebee post #413 - Thompson - Clearwater, Florida - USA

These brilliant collages sent in by Florida artist Thompson are just exquisite. I love the "Adventures in Art" look of the card on the left. The inner-vision by Joseph Campbell on that card is definitely worth considering. I miss Joseph Campbell.
These are really knockouts. Thompson can really put together an awesome collage. Einstein melding with Buddha and assorted friends. Meanwhile, a sort of 'Alice in Wonderland' in the Encyclopedia Museum is going on to the right. Fantastic!
And a third pair of beauties to complete the sumptuous visual feast!
A little advertisement for 'Reality Impaired Recs' zine. On the right is a carved block print that I couldn't quite read, but looks great.
The Affair is happy to to find Thompson with this handsome collection of Mail Art on the premises. Included was a very nice note - which I won't publish (these are private). I love receiving notes with the mail art. Not many folks include a little correspondence and it can sure make your day - like the note that came with this. Anybody sending a note need not worry about it being published online here. Just between you and me my friends. Thank you very much for this splendid art.

Heebee Post #412 - Stan Askew - Pasadena, California - USA

A steady diet of happy faces for masterpiece mouths - on a bed of cash! Stan is back and the Affair welcomes him warmly.
Have a heart Caesar! This quirky Dada style card is entitled 'communion'. Stan is definitely a favorite as his work is cheered on by Askew enthusiasts here. Here, he depicts himself as 'blockhead' - he is anything but - although I know how it feels sometimes myself.
Also included in this Mail Art package were these two beauties. I love 1950's family photos - they have a sense of togetherness that is not common today. And check out those 'Transmission Towers' on the beautiful vintage Grand Coulee Dam postcard. Nice.
Well Stan, it sure is great to have you here, at the Affair. A very delightful envelope full of goodies! Thank you very much my dear friend. See you in the mail soon! Check out his other stuff: Photo Askew.

Heebee Post #411 - Pedro Bericat (MUTE SOUND) - Zaragoza - Spain

I cannot say, with any certainty, what the mysterious contents of this interesting Mail Art package are. While most mail artists are fooling around with paper, ink, rubber stamps, and magazine cut-outs - Pedro is busy melting his various ingredients together in sinister experiments. Sure makes an interesting and freaky 'bubble card'!
Nice to see Mute Sound productions at "The Affair". I must apologize however, because as I sent out the documentation for the 4th Dimension project, I found this on my desk where it must have been hidden for weeks - never having been posted. Ugh! Sorry Pedro. Pedro's 'Mute Sound' would like you to send 1 minute of sound for their project. Snail mail or email: mutesoundrecords@gmail.com or mutesound.org. Thank you very much Pedro, love this stuff.
