Heebee Post #991 - J.Block - Bridgewater, Massachusetts - USA

This stunningly gorgeous panel by Mail Artist J. Block is nothing short of an adventure for armchair traveling eyes. Various scraps that seem to somehow undulate, compose a perfect atmosphere for the burst of dream-like vision that resides comfortably in a sea of a pandemonium of reasons. This will sure get your eyeballs talking to your brain! A splendid 4th Dimensional spectacle!
The other corresponding panel that composes the inside of the folding card is this powerful but hapless sex-bomb in the midst of a recoiling crowd that seems to be shunning the beauty - much to the contrast of their curious minds. Perhaps it might be labeled "Witch Hunt" in a sort of bitter irony.

This is the outside of the card unfolded - a beautiful package that maintains the artist's sense of wonder and exploration. A super job of it too!

This lovely NYC Graffiti artistamp, seen above on the left, is from a series that I seem to find all over the place lately. I am not sure of their origin but, I would like to be. If anybody could advise me about who is making these, please let me (and everyone else) know. I am quite curious.

This is J. Block's debut, here in the 4th, and I really must say, splendid job old boy (or is it girl?).  Also, I would love to send something in return, although the return address isn't quite clear enough for me - So, J.Block, please leave your 'addy' in my email or as a comment here - Okay? This little lovely deserves a reciprocation - wouldn't you agree?  See ya in the mail!
*Next Day Post Script:  Hey, I figured out your address J. - so nevermind that last part and  stand by for mail art!

Heebee Post #990 - Sky City (Lord Fugue) - Hickory, North Carolina - USA

Sky City once again thrills the 4th Dimension with his sharp looking "Cosmos within the Eye Of  Sauron" postcard. Don't stare at it folks - I can feel the tractor beam of the star-populated pupil pulling me inexorably into itself. Yipes! Shake your head and walk away....... Lord Fugue remains in fine form.
Side B of  Sky City's starry eyed endeavor is a fabulous congruence of featured Artistamps.  I recognize Darlene Altschul's "DKA Post" (always great work) and Eddie Nero's "Hitam Post" of which I would like a little closer look:

Eddie Nero's faux postage are marvelous little achievements that warrant a lingering look just because the eyes like it there. This particular stamp is from a set labeled "Mask #4". Brilliant work that reminds me a little of Tin Tin for some reason. Thanks very much Scott - love your work and your collection of Artistamps must be pretty cool. See ya in the mail (where I shall talk to you regarding your exciting note - hope that works out, my dear friend).

Heebee Post #989 - PC (TIC TAC) - Starnberg - Germany

Patrizia turns in a new look for an old theme - the monkey's faces taking on their virtues - in the Subway, of course!  I'm posting this after finding it amidst a pile of mail art debris on my art bench. Sorry PC. but here it is, in full glory! I found a few others folks so, if you haven't seen your postal masterpiece after carefully sending it to me, I assure you it shall be posted in, hopefully, a timely manner for all to revel in!
The reverse side of the 'Simian Trio' card contains an invitation for her new project (see below). I love PC's address label - her style is charmingly bold.
I hadn't realized at first, but this composition is a rethinking of the three monkeys previously seen. Hear not, see not, say not.
This is the Mail Art project I had mentioned from above. "Zine in a Box" - PC is a very clever artist and always has a propensity for having fun. Anybody participating in her projects can attest to that. For more info on this: Tic Tac site,
The sturdy envelope that carried everything has a usual array of PC's characteristic business of rubber stamping - and then I saw this.....

I thought I should show PC's rubber stamping of the two stretcher bearers carrying an interesting symbol of some sort.  Then compare it to the two  fellows in the faux postage I made.  Same exact image!  I ripped mine from a 1953 Thorndike and Barnhart Beginning Dictionary.  I wonder where her's came from?  Thank you so much Patrizia, I am enjoying your work always. See you in the mail!

Heebee Post #988 - Nicole Kostic - Toledo, Ohio - USA

My, oh, my! That is some pretty brutal "Alien Probe evidence"! Nicole rejoins the ranks of the 4th Dimension with this depiction of , well.....I suppose, friendly reader, that you will have to determine what exactly is going on here. This first of three postcards received  is a gas!

I like the thought of Nicole's ethereal kiss coupled with her sexy "Thinking of you from the 4th Dimension". Romantic and strange - a combo that is almost always a winner! Note:  That sweet mush is not a rubber stamp! And yes, I'm smiling, thinking about it!
I like Nicole's colorful 'Life in the Cretaceous' postcard - Colors are strikingly vibrant against the stark white of the background.  The plants are almost as monstrous as the beast!
Sorry to learn of your "Glue Stick withdrawal" status. Maybe you should have "stuck with it"! Heh-heh.
The "Evil Dog" looks almost angelic with his innocent demeanor in this, the third card of a set of three. One never knows. Anyway, nice name for entrepreneurial purposes.
Very nice to have you back Nicole - Also, I couldn't help but to notice that you, dear girl,  are the 100th Heebee Jeebee follower of this peculiar blog. Yay! Hooray! I'm sending something special - see you in the mail Nicole and thank you very much!

Heebee Post #987 - Roland Halbritter - Nudlingen - Germany

Roland's humorous outlook on the state of humanity; where Love is easily marketable by virtue of modern technology. An interesting notion - I wonder how that would work? What I really want to remark about is the exquisite execution of perforation. In fact, perfect perforation. I am very curious about how he achieved this as well as envious. Please let me know Roland - Great stamps!
Is it possible dear Roland has remained in Bavaria (Bayern, as indicated by the card), at some kind of rejuvenating health spa?  I hope you are well Roland and able to enjoy the luscious Springtime.  I can understand your reluctance to leave Bavaria - it must be quite beautiful there. Wish you the best my friend and shall be visiting you in the post shortly. Thanks. Roland Halbritter Mail Art.

Heebee Post #986 - Valery Shimanovsky - Nizhekamsk, Tartartstan - Russia

Valery's violet-crimson study in facial anatomy is making my teeth hurt a little bit, having been to the Dentist earlier today.  The vibrantly colored card boasts a number of features in it's business - like that red and white 'envelope stamp' in the right upper.  Nice.  The eerie looking row of shiny lips looks almost like a row of suction cups along the bottom of a large tentacle. A little creepy, but great!
I like the way he "Circled the wagons" around the destinaire's information.  I sure wish I read Cyrillic, it is such a fascinating language.  Valery is a lot of fun and is quite popular as a sort of "Bon Vivant" among his fellow mail artists.  I always smile when I see something from Valery.  Thanks very much my friend and see you in the mail. Valery Shimanovsky Mail Art

One last thing.  This incredibly beautiful Russian postage stamp is rich in presence and just commands the imagination into wonder of who this distinguished appearing woman is.  The artist certainly captured the hearty countenance of the young lady.  A super stamp!

Heebee Post #985 - Grigori Antonin - Minneapolis, Minnesota - USA

The Erni Bar Fan Club is an appreciation for the genius of German Artist Erni Bar.  Apparently, there are a lot of things regarding Erni that no one knew about - like international film star status, proven by his star on Hollywood Blvd,  photographed by the humorous long time mail artist Grigori Antonin; who likes to promote the adoration of the Erni Bar legend.

These days, it is impossible to mention Grigori without discussing the inimitable Erni Bar, since he is so active in the "Fan Club" antics.  Here, on the left, is the handsome Bar incorporated into a toothbrush holder. Actually, the wall behind the sculpture is pretty interesting as well.  Not familiar with Erni Bar, or perhaps you might want to know more regarding this incredible Beatnik-ish, junk media artist? Check here: Erni Bar website. And if you would like to, the Erni Bar Fan Club discussions are a gas to read. Careful, you can become addicted to Erni Bar and the folks that comprise the fan club - a lot of fun guaranteed!
Yes, that shadowed photographer is Grigori "Enjoying the sun". Great card old boy - I love all things Erni too.  I sent something to you a few days ago Grigori - hope you enjoy it. Love the card!

Heebee Post #984 - RF Cote' - Quebec, Quebec - Canada

It has been a long while since Reg has been in Heebee Jeebeeland and he returns in good form . Above is a feature from the reverse side of the postcard, a "Stamp Duty" Artistamp pair. I like the connotation  of the background filled with screws (standard duty screws), implying that we all seem to be getting screwed in Life somehow - an eerie feeling that can be difficult to rid yourself of.  Or is the subject just saying "Screw everything"?

I know, however, that I mean "Screw it!" when I used the screw in a recent batch of Artistamps I created - shown here, in all it's splendor.  Coincidence? You know, I recently read somewhere that there are no coincidences - it's just God, winking at you!
The striking postcard has a wonderfully created chaos that was carefully made. The effect of the metallic gold surfacing through in the bluish sections looks splendidly like an other worldly terrain - perhaps, like the floor of the 4th Dimension?  I must add that the card is thick, as if it were linoleum.  I really like the feel of that heaviness.
Nice to have you back again after so long Reg. The reverse side of the thick card sports an assortment of Canadian postage stamps - one of which, I want to examine more closely.  See below.
This fine Canadian stamp, "Arrival of Scottish Settlers" is a 1973 issue commemorating the "Highlanders" arrival in eastern Canada.  Maybe you, gentle reader, were not too aware of the large Scottish population in Canada? Well, consider this, the eastern Canadian province where most Canadian Scotts dwell is "Nova Scotia" - which is Latin for "New Scotland"!  Thanks for the great card Reg - See ya in the mail! Heebee Post #983 - DC Spaulding - Lomita, California - USA

The "Jackalope Preserve" is a prime example of the  ongoing and fascinating humor of DC Spaulding. According to the well known Mail Artist, the world is continually being overwhelmed by the threat of a Jackalope takeover.
How Jackalopes enter this country and where they even come from has baffled authorities for as long as anyone can remember.  According to this "Spring Training " card, they are becoming even more organized and determined in their resolve to occupy and rule the nation.
The reverse side of the brilliant postcard declares that if you send Jackalope mail art to "The Preserve" You will become a member of the Jackalope Jumper Club.  "Great Jumpin' Jackalopes"  - I found that using that phrase instead of foully cursing with swear words works very nicely.
In a second postcard from the amazing DC, is this "Find the Mail Art Differences". Looking closely, I see that I am #7 in a prominent list of other well known artists around the world.  Thank you very much DC - Love these cards (as usual). See you in the mail!

Heebee Post #982 - Cascadia Artpost (Jack Lattermann) - Olympia, Washington - USA

Jack Lattermann seen hard at work creating mail art from his well stocked  Cascadia Artpost traveling kit.  This postcard was created for the popular "Mayworks" mail call, Ed Varney's  annual international event.  The theme this year was an "Artist Self Portrait" at work. The card is marked  and dated: September 2012 - Amsterdam.  He is in a hotel room - see the little coffee machine in the corner?  I love a good traveling Mail Art kit. And yes, I never leave town without similar paraphernalia!   Good show Jack!
"Mayworks" will be exhibited throughout May in the Nanaimo Art Gallery on Vancouver Island. I sure would like to drive up to the city of Vancouver and take the ferry across the channel to Nanaimo.  Sounds like a great Spring vacation to me!  If only I had the time, confound it all!  Ah well.  Thanks for the great card Jack and see ya in the mail.  Cascadia Artpost.

Heebee Post #981 - XX Jones - Vienna - Austria

A daring "Mail Art Rescue" mission underway through the apocalyptic storm of modern society.  You know, I think I may have received this from Sigrid just in time!  I love the cataclysmic vibrancy of the clouds - like the background of a Michelangelo painting.  The tortured atmosphere is oddly beautiful - as if she ( I assume XX is piloting the 'copter) is entering a parallel dimension! She must have sensed my Mail Art cries for help!  This large development is 17" x 11" and gorgeously dangerous looking.

I really like this "High Concept" rubber stamping.  Mail Art is at it's best when a "Cerebral Sacrifice" is made. Similar to Keith Buchholz's description of himself as a "Concept Wrangler".

Another feature on the "Rescue" creation is this brilliant little Artistamp by XX.  The strangely decorated ship is to make it unidentifiable at sea - "The Adapter Pattern" was created to create an optical bizzareness that would be confusing to any enemy it might encounter.

I found this photo of the French Cruiser "Gloire" in a 1945 "Science Illustrated" magazine.   This was the  first major vessel to use the Adapter Pattern.
Heebee Jeebeeland is quite delighted to find XX back in the 4th Dimension.  I really enjoy the spirit in which she capriciously creates. Thanks very much Sigrid and see ya in the mail.
I couldn't resist showing this Artistamp from XX - It's Felix rhe Cat!
"Felix the Cat
The wonderful, wonderful Cat.
Whenever he gets in a fix
He reaches out for his bag of tricks".
This TV show came out in 1960 and I was absolutely enchanted by him as a child. Thanks for the memory Sigrid!

Heebee Post #980 - Norbert Koczorski - Diepholz - Germany

Now in it's 12th season,  the Kunstautomat (Art Machine) on Sterngasse (Star Alley) in Nurnberg is still enjoying it's popularity.  The Kunst Automat vows to keep art at decent prices and the 4th Dimension applauds the efforts of the artists involved.  Sometimes the Art Machine dispenser will go on visits to various museums, even internationally. The project is the brainchild of Anna Bien and Winfried Baumann. Norbert's contribution can be seen on the far left.
I am all for the Kunst Aoutomat, it is a wonderful idea.  I sure would like to see this in person and purchase an item or two as great souvenirs from my visit to Germany - At this point, I can only wish.  Traveling is a challenge for me right now.  Ah well., someday.......  Thanks Norbert, I love this card and the spirit of this fantastic project. See you in the post.  Kunst Automat site.

Heebee Post #979 - Art Tower (Gunter Schwind) - Aschaffenburg - Germany

Doesn't my cousin Art Tower look handsome and contemplative atop an article written about him and his "Head Project"..  For many years, Gunter has been painting heads. Enough heads (2,000) to construct a huge wall of them for his exhibition. He is actually in the midst of completing the "Head Project", for it will require 3,006 heads, the amount of those that perished in the 09/11 Twin Towers tragedy in NYC. Gunter was so moved by the 2001 destruction and loss of innocent lives, he has chosen to paint all 3006 of them for a grand memorial in tribute.
It is quite stunning to see the 2,000 heads staring back at you from the huge wall created from them.  The admirable project is awesome in size and incredible to behold.
Seen above is a postcard for the event "I have a new show outside by the River Main, beneath our castle". Wow, sounds like a wonderful showing. Good luck my old friend!
Gunter created this little card commemorating the 25 years of IUOMA's existence.
The decorated envelope declares a "Rat World" with it's humorous depiction of the King Rat. Thank you very much dear cousin, your package is very entertaining.  I also enjoyed the article - must have made you happy too! See ya in the mail. Art Tower Mail Art.
